A hair dryer that is great for drying your hair has become an essential part of modern life. Perhaps it's because a hair dryer can dry out hair, causing hair to become rough and brittle (1). Perhaps it's because heat can cause gray hair to turn brassy (or yellowish). It could be that I got sick of my hair dryers exploding.
Consider it the hair dryer to the future. Dyson Supersonic promises to enhance smoothness and shine while decreasing frizz. Dyson V9 motors use their Air Multiplier technology. This allows for more air to be produced at a controlled rate, drying hair faster. To prevent heat damage, the Dyson dryer actually measures 40 times the heat coming from the dryer to control and regulate how hot it gets. You will notice a greater shine and smoothness in your hair, both when you use it and over time. You don't have to worry about frizz. The dryer uses negative Ions to reduce static in air and keep hair silky smooth throughout the day.
The next thing I knew I was a Dyson fan. The Dyson blow dryer is faster than other hair dryers. When I first used it, I recorded the drying time on my smartphone. The result? 1:40:11. It took me less than two minutes to dry my entire head. My hair is fine and short, but I find it takes longer to make instant coffee. This alone made me decide that the Dyson was worth it. Although I often run late, I don't worry about whether I have enough time to dry my hair now. I have always got two minutes.
It comes with everything! This was my first impression of the Dyson. My previous hair dryer came only with the hair dryer. So if I wanted accessories (diffusers and concentrators, brushes, etc. I had the option to purchase them separately.
If I had a number, it would be 35% better than any other hair dryers. I save time by blow drying my hair every other time, but I really value the decreased extreme heat damage.
My hair feels fried when I use blowdryers. No matter how many times I use blow dryers, my hair ends always look frizzy and crispy. I was so happy with the dryer that I forgot to mention it. It has changed how my hair feels after blow drying. I used hated blow drying my locks. Now? I look forward blow drying my hair every day because it makes me feel good and healthy.
It also includes three attachments: a diffuser (for smoothing) and two nozzles (one to concentrate the airflow, which is great for blowouts. Dyson has released three additional attachments to the Supersonic, including the Flyaway Attachment that smooths down flyaways and the Wide Tooth Comb Attachment that curls and coils hair. The Gentle Air Attachment is for controlling and diffusing heat to protect hair types with fine hair.
The DysonSupersonic hair dryer measures temperature and regulates heat. This prevents excessive heat damage to your hair and protects its shine.
Dyson Supersonic hair dryers are made to protect hair from heat damage. This dryer will increase hair's smoothness up to 75%, improve shine by upto 132% and decrease frizz or flyaways by as much as 61%
There are four temperature settings for the Dyson hairdryer. The highest setting can reach 212F while the coolest setting can reach 82F.
What I love about the Dyson hair dryer over others is that it takes about half the time to dry my hair and doesn't leave behind that burnt hair smell.
I purchased the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer initially to try it on three different types of hair.
This luxury, high-powered hair dryer gives you a great blow dry and also saves time.
Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer Review: It's well worth the $400 price tag
If I had a number, it would be 35% better than any other hair dryers. I save time by blow drying my hair every other time, but I really value the decreased extreme heat damage.
The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer was initially purchased to test on three hair types. However, I ended up testing it only on two hair types (my own and that of a friend). Although $400 seems like a large price tag for a hair dryer I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Dyson could diffuse my curly 28-inch hair in five minutes and caused less damage than traditional hair dryers.
However, I have not seen any knockoffs. A workaround is to let your hair air dry for most of the time and then use a hair dryer for the final few minutes. This will give your hair a smooth, shiny look without any heat exposure.
Four precise heat settings
Those are many numbers that seem largely fabricated. Dyson vacuums have been worth the cost so why not apply the same to their hair tools? Because it seems subjective to be able to quantify, I was skeptical about the claim that the Supersonic increases shine 132%. I was intrigued to see if the claims regarding decreasing frizz or protecting from heat damage were correct.
Dyson will offer you a number of benefits, including a longer warranty and a more flexible return policy.
You might be asking yourself if Dyson's hair dryer is worth the investment. That's a completely different question.
My hair has a combination of 3b, 3c and 3b curls. It was very curly during puberty so I spent most time straightening it.
My hair feels dry when I use blow dryers. My hair always looks frizzy and crunchy no matter what I do. This dryer has completely changed the way my hair feels after it's been dried. I used to hate blow drying my hair. I would bake my hair for longer periods of time to get it dry. Now? Because my hair will always look and feel healthy, I enjoy blow drying it.
Is a $400+ hair dryer really worth the hype? I have the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer since 2018. I love it but it isn't for everyone. Are you curious about my honest review of the Dyson Supersonic hair dryer? Continue reading...
My medium-length bob cuts just barely reach my shoulders. I also have curtain bangs in dire need of being trimmed. Curtain bangs have been my constant companion for the past two years. I don't think I could ever imagine changing my hairstyle. Curtain bangs are a complicated style, so I must make sure they stay in place.
A resounding yes, yes, yes. I couldn't have imagined that $400 worth of plastic would be so enticing to me.
My Dyson Supersonic was purchased back in 2018 with three attachments. Now, it comes with these five:
Is a hair dryer that costs more than $400 worth it? I've owned the Dyson Supersonic dryer since 2018, and I love it. However, I don't think it's right for everyone. You want to know my honest opinion? Keep reading...
It has happened to me that the attachment fell off during a hair-dye, but it isn’t too bad to just put it back on.
Fastest drying+: Combining the small and powerful Dyson digital motor V9 with Air Multiplier technology, a high-velocity controlled air jet is produced for precision styling and drying.
The Dyson Supersonic comes with three speeds (low-medium, high-speed) and four temperature settings. This includes a cold shot. The attachments include a diffuser, two nozzles for smoothing and one to concentrate air flow. This is great for styling bangs and blowouts. Since the Supersonic's release, Dyson has also released three other attachments: the Flyaway Attachment (for smoothing out flyaways), Wide Tooth Comb Attachment for curling curly hair and the Gentle Air Attachment (for controlling heat and diffusing it to protect fine hair types).
I have owned the dryer for 4 years. I have never cleaned its filter. Oops. Dyson recommends that you clean it once a months by wiping down the inner filter and outer cage with a soft cloth.
This is why I spent most of my puberty years tying it up. At the age of 18, I was ready to stop worrying about my hair and learn some tips. Now I know how to care for my hair. I know which products to use and how to style my hair. I also know how to sleep with it (I could probably write a whole book about sleeping with curly locks). And how to keep it healthy. The result? My hair is full of healthy, long curls. Only one thing about my hair I would not be able to live without is the long drying process. This is where the Dyson hair dryer steps in.
The Dyson Supersonic can be set at three speeds (low, medium and high), as well as four temperature settings. There are also three attachments available: a diffuser and 2 nozzles. One is for smoothing, the other for concentrating airflow. These are great for blowouts or styling bangs. The Supersonic also includes the Flyaway Attachment, the Wide Tooth Comb Attachment and the Gentle Air Attachment. These attachments are great for smoothing and protecting fine hair types.
My 28-inch-long, curly-cut hair was dry in 5 minutes.
The bottom line: The Dyson Supersonic blew away the competition when it came to drying speed, strongest airflow, and consumer satisfaction in our
extensive testing. If you're in the market for a new hair dryer — and have some savings built up — it's proven to be the best hair dryer you can buy.
For this experiment I washed my hair, toweled it up for exactly six minutes while I lotioned up and got dressed and then blew my hair out.
With the Dyson hair dryer, drying my hair took seven minutes.
Unlike some others, the Dyson Supersonic™ hair dryer measures air temperature over 40 times a second, and regulates the heat.
This prevents extreme heat damage, to help protect your hair's shine.
Dyson says it's less damaging to your hair. The dryer allegedly prevents extreme heat damage by measuring the temperature 20 times a second to
ensure that it is consistently at a healthy temperature for your hair.
