It's not quite quiet by any means, but it's certainly quieter than some. Some sources cite it at 75 decibels and others at 79... if you really want to get technical.
The Dyson hair dryer is a great choice. It takes half the time and leaves my hair feeling dry.
The volume it gave my hair was what made it worth the price. As I mentioned, my hair is straight and thin.
You don't need to worry about your hand getting too hot while you hold the tool.

Although I originally purchased the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer to test it on three types of hair, I ended up using it only on my own hair and that of a close friend.
