I bought the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer in order to test it with three different hair types.
I was hooked. Dyson dryers dry hair much faster than others. The first time it was used, I used my phone's timer to record the time. The result? 1:40:11. It took me less that two minutes to dry the whole head. It takes longer to dry my hair than it does to make instant coffee. This alone was enough to make the Dyson worth my money. I am usually late, but I don’t worry if there is enough time to do my hair. I always have two minutes.
Fast is what I mean when I say it. My hair is thick and curly, measuring 28 inches in length. It's quite a lot of hair. Diffusing my hair took me five minutes. This is a great trick for when it's colder outside and my hair doesn't need to air dry for more than half of the day. It took me 20 minutes to do a blowout. I'm not an expert. If I was a better blowout artist, it would have been much faster.
However, I have not seen any knockoffs. A workaround is to let your hair air dry for most of the time and then use a hair dryer for the final few minutes. This will give your hair a smooth, shiny look without any heat exposure.
