About Easy Java Simulations

The Easy Java Simulations (Ejs) modeling and authoring tool is a Java program that enables both programmers and novices to quickly and easily prototype, test, and distribute Java-based simulations. This Launcher packages shows how it can be used to illustrate and teach mechanics concepts using the modeling method. If you are an experienced Java programmer or are on the way to becoming one, you may wonder why you need such an authoring tool when you can program directly? Although programming directly in Java gives you more complete control, Ejs is faster and easier if you want to:

• Develop a prototype of an application in order to test an idea or algorithm.
• Create a user interfaces without programming.
• Create models whose structure and algorithms non-programmers can easily inspect and understand.
• Encourage students or colleagues (who may be new to Java) to create their own simulations.

This Launcher package contains multiple Ejs models in a single easy to distribute jar file. Not only are the models compiled and ready-to-use by double clicking on the green arrows (Launch Nodes) in the Launcher's table of contents tree, the Launcher package contains xml descriptions of models packaged is such a way that right clicking on a Launch Node passes the xml description to Ejs thereby allowing others to examine and modify the model.
