RED ERROR CODES

Non-editable errors – referencing one or more of these error codes results in an E-Mail to the user containing a request to enter a new review. The E-Mail will contain a link to an empty submission form.

BLUE ERROR CODES

Editable errors – referencing one or more of these error codes results in an E-Mail to the user containing the request to edit and correct their submitted review. The E-Mail will contain a link to a populated submission form, holding the data of the original review.

NOTE:

A review that is rejected using red, as well as blue error codes, will trigger a process as described under RED ERROR CODES. Meaning the resulting E-Mail will contain a link to an empty submission form for the user to enter a new review.

GIU – Generally Inappropriate Userinput

1. Generally inappropriate comments – content that aims to be offensive, derogatory or provocative, or content that can be perceived as such.

2. Inappropriate comments directed towards other users – content that is overtly derogatory towards other content/users.

3. Inappropriate comments directed towards companies – content that is overtly derogatory towards the client or any other company.

4. Discriminatory statements – content that makes discriminatory remarks concerning any person or group. Including, but not limited to, insulting comments based on nationality,

    ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and disability.

Example 1:

The review is used to portrait political or religious opinions.

Example 2:

The review contains threats or insults against other persons.

Example 3:

The review is negative towards a product based only on the place in which it was manufactured.

WP – Wrong Product

The review clearly contains content that is not related or applicable to the product it was submitted for.

Example: A review that is clearly referencing a dishwasher is submitted to the product page of a blender.

CS – Customer Service

The content relates to interactions with customer service (whether positive or negative) or the return/exchange policy, not the product itself.

Example 1: The review is about the experience the customer had over the phone with the support team.

Example 2: The review is about the experience the customer had with a repair technician.

PUX – Product User Experience

The content of the review gives the clear impression that the reviewer has no experience with the reviewed product.

Example 1: The review clearly states a lack of experience.

Example 2: The review contains no other content than a description of the design as seen on the product pictures.

LI – Legal Issues

1. Legal proceedings - The content of the review refers to potential future or ongoing legal proceedings against the client.

2. Product danger – The content of the review clearly states that the product is unsafe for use, that the product has caused injury to a person/animal or property loss due

   to product errors.

3. Wider legal issues – The content of the review suggests/contains evidence of violence towards, or death of, a child or adult.

Example 1: The review describes an ongoing legal case regarding the warranty.

Example 2: The review describes an injury that occurred during product use.

UA - Underaged

The content clearly states or strongly suggests that the reviewer is under the age of 18.

Example: The reviewer writes that they received the product recently as a gift for their 18th birthday.

FL – False Language

The content is not written in the ‘expected language’, i.e. it is not the same language of the page it was submitted on.

Example: The review was submitted on a German site but was written in French.

SPM – Spam

The review was submitted multiple times in the same form.

NOTE: This code should not be used for the original review, but for all following duplicates.

Example: A review exists multiple times with identical content.

SI – Shipping Issues

The content of the review refers mainly to experiences which the customer had with shipping services.

Example: The review only mentions the prompt delivery of the product.

IMG – Inappropriate Image Material

The review contains images that are inappropriate when writing a product review. This includes, but is not limited to, nudity, copyrighted material, advertisement and more general content that has no relation to the product being reviewed.

Example: The review contains an image advertising a different product.

PII – Personal Identifiable Information

If the content contains personal information that could be used to personally identify the reviewer or other persons. Information that is considered under this includes; full names, phone numbers, physical addresses, E-mail addresses, credit card/bank account information or social security numbers.

Example 1: The reviewer states their full home address as part of the review.

Example 2: The reviewer mentions their own full name or the full name of another person.

DBA – Directs Business Away

The review was written with obvious intent to lead users to another business. This business need not be a competitor. (See also CR)

Example: The review recommends checking out website of XYZ for products.

PRI – Pricing

In the review a specific price is mentioned for the product.

Example: The review mentions a price of € 59,95 for the product XYZ.

PRF – Profanity

The content of the review contains any swearing or vulgar slang. This includes cases in which the reviewer is trying to cover up the profanity by not using letters such as; #$!@.

VAC – Vacuous

Lack of content or unsubstantial, vacuous content, that makes the review of no use to those reading it.

Example 1: Review contains excessive random or recurring characters or word strings.

Example 2: Review is so poorly written it is unintelligible.

Example 3: The content is a dummy text. (E.g. „Lorem Ipsum...“)

CR – Competitor Reference

The content of the review mentions one or more competitors or products of competitors.

Example: The review compares the product in question to products from a competitor.

URL

The review contains an open or hidden (e.g. masked by white spaces or paraphrasing) hyperlink to another website.

Example 1: The review contains a hyperlink to a competitor website.

Example 2: The review contains a phrase that is intended as a link such as; „www(dot)google(dot)com“

VID – Inappropriate Video Material

The review contains videos, gifs or any other form of interactive content that is inappropriate when writing a product review. This includes, but is not limited to, nudity, copyrighted material, advertisement and more general content that has no relation to the product being reviewed.

Example: The review contains a video advertising a different product.
